Inn by the Park
A Victorian inn with a Spanish soul — overlooking Earl Baker Park and the St. Lawrence River in the heart of Morrisburg, Ontario.
The Inn
Victorian Character. Warm Welcome.
The Inn by the Park is a stately Victorian home with an unexpected Spanish flourish — arched colonnades, wrought-iron railings, and warm stucco that sets it apart from the surrounding streetscape. Situated directly across from Earl Baker Park, guests wake up to park views, the sounds of the river, and a short walk to Morrisburg’s waterfront, beach, boardwalk, and public dock.
The inn offers two private rooms — the Historic King and the Historic Balcony — each with an ensuite bathroom, along with access to generous shared spaces that make it feel more like a home than a hotel.
A Bit of History
On a Street Named After Canada’s First Postmaster General
The inn sits on Sir James Morris Drive — named after Sir James Morris, who served as Canada’s first Postmaster General and gave Morrisburg its name in 1851. Born in Paisley, Scotland in 1798, Morris emigrated to Upper Canada with his family and became one of the region’s most influential figures.
Morrisburg saw a building boom in the 1870s, when many of its finest Victorian homes were constructed along the St. Lawrence. By the 1930s, the village had become a popular tourist destination, and several of these grand riverfront homes were converted into inns and tourist homes — a tradition the Inn by the Park continues today.
In 1958, the St. Lawrence Seaway project permanently flooded approximately one third of old Morrisburg. The homes and streets that survived — including those along Sir James Morris Drive — carry that history with them.
Shared Spaces
More Than Just a Room
Guests have full access to the inn’s common areas — a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room, a sitting room and library with a well-stocked bar, and a park-facing balcony overlooking the St. Lawrence. These aren’t afterthoughts; they’re the reason people come back.
